HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS FROM THE TRIP
For many years I wanted to Glorify our God by serving others. My opportunity came when I was able to go to Haiti with H.E.F. My initial thought was to help as many Haitians as possible in dentistry. So I worked hard as I could. During my trip, I realized God has another plan for me. He has allowed me to experience the true meaning of serving. I have never worked so hard and yet received so much JOY in serving HIM. As the verse in Acts 20:35 states, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
I have been truly blessed by the trip. Thank you Pastor Bither and Haiti Endowment Fund for allowing me to be part of this dedicated group. God Bless,
Brad Nieland, retired police officer
During the past three years, I have been blessed to make two missions trips to Hinche, Haiti. Both of these trips were with Haiti Endowment. I guess one of the main things I left Haiti with, was thankfulness. Unless you have taken a trip to a third-world country, you cannot imagine how blessed we Americans really are. We take so much for granted. Things like clean running water, an abundance of food, electricity and a democratic government. Everywhere you look in Hinche, you see the most extreme poverty and hopelessness. I realized God has blessed me so abundantly. My next thought was, the message from the Bible, which teaches that God loves all of us the same. That starving mother and child, living on a dirt-floored hut, are no different to God then we are. We are all His children, equally loved by Him, but not equally blessed.
I’m not a doctor or a preacher, but was still able to help the teams in Haiti. If you have a willing heart, God can use you. For those who cannot get away to go to another country, you can help feed the children. Most of the kids there, are lucky to get one small meal a day. That’s not a meal like we eat here in the U.S. Their meal is like a cup of rice. What we pay for a soda, at McDonalds, will give four hot meals to a Haitian child.
Everyone can help. Let God use you in the ways you can help. If you can’t go to Haiti, feed a few starving kids. I’ve discovered that Haiti Endowment is an organization dedicated to helping the lost and hurting people of Haiti. Almost every cent given to Haiti Endowment goes straight to the Haitian people. God has blessed you, help His other children. God bless the Bithers for their endless labors for Haiti.

Where do I start! We really had a great group of people to work with. The unity and love was great as well as fun, laughter and hard work and longs hours. What a privilege to be allowed to help and give a “cup of cold water” in Jesus name. I am so thankful to have been part of the team and look forward to the next time. Thank you, Harold and Natalie, for your vision for Haiti and for so tenderly caring for God’s lambs and training shepherds to walk alongside them. God bless you, and thank you, for the honor of having a tiny part in that vision.

My time serving the Haitian people is a precious gift to me. As much as I try to help them with their heartbreaking medical needs, I know that I am the one so very impacted as I see their joy in the Lord despite their circumstances. To love and be in unity with people, who are in the body of Christ, even though they have such a foreign culture to me and their ways are often a mystery to me, is an amazing blessing. I also get great joy when I introduce new people to mission service. I watch their hearts being touched by the Haitian people and their excitement to continue in their service to the Lord in the future. I am excited for the adventures that God has in store!

I have had the privilege to serve in Haiti over the past two years. I have seen how the people of Haiti have benefited from all the work done through Haiti Endowment Fund. We are seeing much healthier people in villages. We have made much progress toward proving more continuity health care to our brothers and sisters in Haiti. During this last trip I realized more about what Jesus said, “what you have done for the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.” I had the opportunity while I was at one of the villages to care for one patient in particular whose face I have not been able to erase from my mind. He was unkempt, smelly dirty but somehow impressed me when I looked into his eye, that I felt this scripture speak to me. I am so thankful for the members of our team, for the awesome joy they did and for the fellowship we had together.

There is pain and suffering in Haiti, but for the Haitian that knows Jesus Christ as their savior there is an abundance of hope and peace that only God can give. Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! (2 Corinthians 9:15) It is exciting to watch them worship. For the Haitians that don't know the Lord I pray they may hear and see how much the Lord desires a relationship with them. I love being part of a team that prays the same prayer.
When God asked me to go to Haiti my first response (I'm ashamed to admit) was "Oh...,no." After a few moments, I reluctantly agreed to go (you do know what happened to Jonah) and immediately prayed that God would change my heart. I know that if I don't do what God wants, the weight of disobedience is great. We all know how God loves to mold us. Psalm 37:4," Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." The Lord knows the desires of my heart better than I ever will. Haiti is where I belong. I go to Haiti to serve and in return, I am blessed beyond measure. My cup overflows.
In Christ,
Amara
