In early May 2011, a small team from the San Francisco Bay Area arrived at the compound with a daunting task before them: construct, assemble, and install roofs on four different schools in only seven days. Without question, success would only come from not just the blessing, but the clear intervention of the Lord in central Haiti. Dina, a young woman we were asked to help by Klaus (UN). Our doctors arranged for her surgery. According to the doctors, the surgery was a success. Dina has received “braces” on both her legs – she says they hurt every day, but this is part of the healing process… if she is consistent with her physical therapy, she will be much better off. Again, thanks to the doctors/nurses and all the other good people from Haiti Endowment Foundation to make the surgery possible. || Read more
We were all shocked to hear of the earthquake in Haiti and were immediately at work trying to get transportation and safety arranged for getting medical teams in to help. After many contributed to the effort, our first medical team arrived in Haiti about 10 days after the earthquake. We had to fly in by chartered plane to Cap Haitien and truck over to Hinche with a UN escort. It was a big undertaking with Port au Prince airport completely out of commission and Mission Aviation Fellowship suspended indefinitely. We were so happy to find our friends well and the compound undamaged. || Read more
Our team made it home safely so now we would like to share an update from the trip. When we arrived we were greeted with the usual smiling faces of the Haitian people, in spite of their incredibly difficult circumstances. We had a team of 23 people for medical clinics, agriculture/gardening projects and those individuals who helped out wherever called to serve,(including Harold and Natalie, 82 and 83 years old!). All were committed to seeing what God would have in store and we weren’t’ disappointed. || Read more
I am happy to report that team 3 has safely arrived in Haiti after spending an extra day to reach Hinche due to more difficult travel itinerary since the earthquake. Since arriving in Haiti we have seen over 400 patients in two of our regular villages and our compound. We have taken care of patients that were injured from the earthquake at every village we went to. || Read more
