HAITI ENDOWMENT FUND

Besides saving lost souls, the children’s feeding program is one of the most rewarding ministries undertaken by Haiti Endowment. It is also one of the most challenging to maintain.

About four years ago, Haiti Endowment started a pilot-feeding program in one of the villages. The joy and rewards of supplying a hot meal to school children who were at the brink of starvation, could never be overstated. It not only filled empty stomachs, but it filled the hopes of their mothers and fathers, that their children will have a good chance for a better life then they have had. Most of the parents in the village, were soon sending their children to the new Christian school. This fostered great trust in the “Whites” and opened the door to teaching the love of Christ to the lost.

When volunteers and some churches learned of the success, they started to dedicate donations for feeding the children. Haiti Endowment immediately stepped out in faith to increase this ministry. What started with seventy five meals a day, now provides a hot meal to over 3,000 school children each day.  During this past few years, we have watched the food cost in Haiti, skyrocket. The meal that cost us $.18, four years ago, is now running about $.32 per meal. A world-wide shortage of rice, and the high costs has caused thousands of Haitians to resort to eating dirt, to survive. At this same time, the American economy has been faltering and donations have dropped to a low level. This reduction of donations and dedicated food money has made it very difficult to hold up the food program for the children. Many of those who volunteer their time to this ministry, have also increased their personal financial giving so the children can continue to eat.

Please help Haiti Endowment continue to feed the children in our care. It is our vision to not only continue to feed the 3,000 village school children, but to reach out still further towards the villages that receive no care or supplements. Search your heart, and see if you could help us feed these children.
